ETERNABOND ROOF SEAL AND SUPER SEAL
AGING AND UV RESISTANT CHARACTERISTICS
Eternabond Super Seal is designed to be age and
UV resistant. The unique film backing of the Super Seal has
been specially formulated to be resistant to UV rays, thermal
expansion, impact and abrasion. Whether you are using Eternabond
Super Seal White, Gray or Black, the tough, specially formulated
multi-polymer alloy film will provide a long service life over
a wide range of temperatures.
UV Ray Aging testing provided the following results
for the Eternabond Super Seal, 8-mil film:

The results show that tensile yield and tensile at break are
increasing in value over time, with an average elongation percent
loss of only 2.8% (-11.3% over 4000hours UV). The Q-Panel Lab
Products experts call 2000 hours of UV testing the equivalent
of one to two actual years of exposure. Therefore, the 4000
hours of UV testing could be seen to represent as much as four
years of actual UV exposure. Extrapolating the 2.8% loss of
elongation leads to an outdoor film life projection of from
18 to 35 years.
Our backing films also exhibit great heat stability. Other
products that use our backing are designed to operate indefinitely
at service temps of 250 degrees F and beyond without a loss
of physical strength. This family of backings has been in use
since 1985 and it has been used at service temps exceeding 300
degrees F.
